The series finale of Beyond the Music brings a soul-searching journey of betrayal, forgiveness, and acceptance with conductor Mei-Ann Chen, your Hawaiʻi Symphony Orchestra, and the music of Arnold Schoenberg's Transfigured Night (Verklärte Nacht). Curated and hosted by HSO Director of Artistic Engagement and Composer in Residence, Michael-Thomas Foumai, explore the radiant dark forest of the human heart, the spellbinding marriage of poetry and music, and the ties that bind in the upcoming Masterworks performance.

Conductor Earl Lee joins your Hawai'i Symphony Orchestra, performing excerpts from Brahms's beloved Symphony No.4 in E minor. Beyond the Music previews the Masterworks concerts, helping to encourage curiosity in the minds of keiki and kupuna alike as a standalone performance, or before attending Masterworks concerts. Programs are carefully curated by guest conductors and local humanities leaders to create an evening of music and knowledge sharing that is unique to Hawai'i.
Conductor Dane Lam returns to lead the HSO in excerpts from Dvořák’s New World Symphony. HSO Director of Artistic Engagement and Composer in Residence, Michael-Thomas Foumai takes center stage to highlight musical and historical context that is specific to our island home.
